Hi everyone, this is my first time posting. I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, following a mamogram & ultra sound. Core biopsies taken from left breast & armpit. Awaiting results on Friday 10th July. Can see on NHS app notes that the lump is at least 4cm, was told during biopsy that I have some thickening in lymph nodes. Apologies if my terminology is wrong.
I have been reading through some posts on here & obviously don't understand all the terminology (yet). Very anxious about the results & possibility that it has spread into my lymph nodes. Just wondering what to expect next with regards to treatment plan
Feeling lost, overwhelmed & a little numb to be honest. Trying not to panic.

I am sorry you find yourself here. Awaiting formal diagnosis and treatment plan is the worst part of it. The biopsies will confirm whether it is cancer or not, and tell them a bit more about the cancer. This includes whether it is ductal or lobular, or rarely something else. Also the grade, which is how different the cells look to normal cells, where grade 3 is the most different and usually fastest growing. And finally, what receptors, if any, are present. Cancers may have receptors for any, all or none of oestrogen, progesterone and human growth hormone (HER2). Your treatment plan will depend on all of this plus the size of the lump and whether there’s anything on the lymph node biopsy. For some situations it’s surgery first, for others chemo or chemo plus targeted treatment. Not a lot of fun but mostly doable and most people get a good outcome. They will take you through it all at the appointment and also give you time with a nurse. Wishing you all the best.
