Hi, I was confirmed with Breast Cancer on Friday last, no more details. Booked in for MRI this Friday. I am at a loss to decide how I feel... angry, hurt, confused, total loss of control.
No real explanation given yet apart from Ductal Cancer, the core biopsy was done because something looked different. I really didnt expect this
No treatment plan has been discussed yet.
I know I'm now on the 'journey', however, we have a big family holiday booked at the end of July.
Does anyone think the treatment time scales would allow for this to be taken and then start. This is all just adding to my worry.
If you want travel insurance they won’t cover you if you have upcoming treatment. I’m now on my third cancer and have experience of trying to work my way round these issues.
You may already have your holiday insured as the departure date is so near. That would probably give you the opportunity to cancel without losing money. If you are already insured and decide to go ahead anyway, you will have to declare the current situation to your insurer.
Everyone’s different but I wouldn’t be wanting to proceed with the holiday under these circumstances. Apart from anything else, you may be called for other tests post MRI.
Hi jans, I am/ was in a similar position, I gave my holiday dates at my appointment and was told I could go as wait time was a few weeks anyway. I have just returned and really pleased I went, it was lovely to get away and feel a bit normal again before my treatment. I am finding the waiting ( treatment timescales seem to be a myth in my area) and loss of control really hard so going away felt re empowering.
i hope everything goes well for you whatever you decide
Hi Jans I would look at Insurancewith. They specialise in insurance for people with health conditions, especially cancer. I got a quote from AllClear for over £2000 for one week cover and paid only £287 for an annual multi trip for myself and husband with Insurancewith. Going on holiday before treatment is a good idea. Good luck.
