  • Hi

Welcome to our community. I hope you will find lots of support here. I am sorry you have several weeks to wait for your surgery. You are right that’s it’s absolutely normal to be anxious and distracted. I am sure you just wish you could get it over with. Do I understand you correctly that it’s lobular cancer? Mine was ductal so I don’t have any direct experience to offer. Hopefully someone will lobular cancer will see your post.

  • Hi

Yes its lobular cancer found with routine screening,  thankyou for replying, its going to be a long 5 weeks awaiting surgery. Trying my best to keep busy but its always on my mind

  • Hi Valhala, I was diagnosed with Invasive Lobular Cancer in January, mine was also found on my routine mammogram.  Ihad my surgery in March, just had my first radiotherapy session today

It threw me when I was first told, do try & keep busy it's hard I know as it's always in the back of your mind.  This is a journey no one wants to be on.  I do hope you have lots of support, I found great comfort in talking to my family & friend.

    Take care Heart️

  • Hi hummingbird

Yes i do have a good support network, how are you now? What operation did you have? I'm having a lumpectomy with chest wall perforator flap breast reconstruction, then radiotherapy if the lymph nodes are clear, strange isn't it using words these days id never heard of before

  • Hi Valhala, I was diagnosed with ILC in December.   I've had a lumpectomy and was just about to start radiotherapy,  when I tested positive for BRCA 2 gene, so I'm now having a bilateral mastectomy direct to implant reconstruction and a bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy.  The waiting around is definitely the worst, and there are so many appointments!

    Jo xx

  • Hi Jo

I'm sorry to hear that it must be aweful for you to go through another operation and a bigger one too, how did you find out you had the BRCA 2 gene? How are you doing?

    Xx

  • They looked at my family history, and then when my mum was also diagnosed with breast cancer,  they agreed to test me.

I'm doing well, thanks for asking!

    Take care xx

  • Hi Valhala, I was very lucky just lumpectomy & sentinel node biospy, margins were clear as were the sentinel nodes, i'm now on Letrozole & adcal D3 supplements

Glad you have a good support group around you, take care Heart️

  • Hi hummingbird

    • Glad to hear your doing well. Keeping everything crossed that it all goes well. They have told me I will be going on letrozole once I have finished radiotherapy xx
  • Had my second session of radiotherapy today, all good my breast feels a bit warm & i'm feeling a little tired but other than that all good

Before you know it, you'll have had your op & onto the next steps of your journey

Try & have a good weekend, spend time with family & friends keep busy & try not to dwell on anything Heart️
