On Thursday I got the results of my core biopsy. It's cancer and I need a lumpectomy and radiotherapy. Everything has happened so quickly and it's hard to get my head round

  • Hi

I’m sorry you have had a diagnosis. I had a diagnosis and had lumpectomy and radiotherapy two years ago and now taking tamoxifen for five years. It takes a while for it to sink in but everything will feel more in control once treatment plan is in place and underway.

Everyone here will do their best to support you as much as you need. If you have any questions please ask away. x

  • Hello

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I was diagnosed withn invasive ductal carcinoma on 13 January and my imagination went into a massive spin. This was followed by sleepless nights, loss of appetite, feeling sick and imagining all sorts of aches and pains. Its a lot to take in especially if you feel well and it's unexpected. I had no obvious lumps or any symptoms.

I had a lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy on Monday this week and have been told I will need radiotherapy too.

The operation was nowhere near as bad as I imagined and I'm recovering really well with just paracetomol. I'm waiting for results from the op so trying to keep calm and positive.

Ive found these forums so helpful. No one really understands unless they're going through the same and everyone is really kind and supportive.

Ask whatever questions you need to or just tell us how you're feeling and I'm sure someone will try to help.

    Love Sue x
