Hi Everyone,
I'm just hoping for some advice and thoughts. I had a mammogram recall and attended the breast clinic yesterday for follow up. I've had a number of cysts over the years and several visits before and I naively expected this to be another cyst. I did actually find out yesterday I had a large cyst which was drained but also a new area of micro-calcifications which is the problem. I've not been told for definite this is likely to be sinister but they have already made a follow up appointment for the 9th February and asked explicitly if someone would be coming with me! I had a stereo-tactic core biopsy done yesterday with a marker placed but not sure if that is standard ? The consultant radiologist was very nice but quite matter of fact and she did say that she felt this could be an early stage cancer DCIS. I guess what I'm asking is that does this sound likely to be something, I'm trying to be prepared so that its not too much of a shock!
I've also just recently had surgery for suspected endometrial cancer which has now turned out to be ok and I literally got the news it was fine a couple of days before the mammogram recall so I'm just feeling like I cant catch a break!
thank you all!
Karen
When I had my biopsy I had a marker placed and was told it helps locate the area of concern on further treatment/procedure. When I received my letter concerning results I was asked to confirm I would be taking a friend/family member with me Personally I believe they have a good idea of what they have found but can’t confirm without results
Hope everything goes ok whatever the results xx
Hi Mildred
thank you so much for taking the time to reply that has really helped. I felt yesterday they were almost trying to prepare me for what was going to happen and I prefer that. I'm currently trying to keep myself busy at work and planning things to fill the time. I think I will do better when I know exactly what is happening. I hope that you are doing well and thank you xx
