Hi new to the group been diagnosed with breast cancer and starting chemo on Monday just wandered if others have used the cold cap if so what was your experience like
I finished 6 rounds of chemo 3 weeks ago and used the cold cap the whole way through. The actual use of it was not as bad as I expected - I always had some paracetamol beforehand and tried to distract myself for the first 10/15 mins. I listened to my fave Taylor Swift song which is 10 mins!
I did lose a lot of hair - probably about 70% but I kept hair at the front so if I tie it back and wear a headband it's not that noticeable - I have worn wigs too when I want to look at bit nicer!
Good luck. It's definately worth a try with the cold cap. I didn't shed any hair until 2 weeks after my second dose of EC. Some people stop shedding on Docetaxel but I didn't - I have kept shedding right to the end!
Hello. I am on my 7th, and last treatment today, and I have used the cold cap for every one. it is worth a try. I have lost quite a bit of hair, but they say that the re growth is better. Take 2 paracetamol before you go in.
