Does anyone have experience of being diagnosed with breast cancer while on biologic medication for rheumatoid arthritis

    1. Hi, yes, I am in a position where I had a RA ,/ Fibromyalgia diagnosis.  Whilst my RA/ F meds were sulphazalasine / methotrexate and did not step into biological meds, when I was being for my original cancer all RA meds were stopped in order to treat the more life threatening cancer.  As I have a partial cancer diagnosis to date - my methotrexate has been stopped to allow my immune system to recover enough to add support to me during my new cancer treatment.  The cancer treatment takes priority over treatment for any other health issues (this is in my own circumstances,,)
  • Hi thanks for replying. Did your RA flare when you came off the meds? If so, how quickly did that happen? I've only been on RA meds for 9 months and its only just under control since I started biologics in September. I'm worried about it flaring as the first 6 months were awful. I've been advised to come off the biologic but still take methotextrate for the time being. I guess I'll have to come off this too once I have a date for surgery.  I hope your cancer treatment is going well
