I had a mastectomy and am thinking of having reconstructive surgery. I was wondering what people’s experiences were having diep surgery. Pain, length of recovery and things that may go wrong? I have a large sagging boob to the other side which would need lifting and I feel would match an implant.

I had Diep surgery over the summer and unfortunately was one of the 5/100 statistics where the flap failed. The first surgery was almost 11 hours then need an additional emergency 3 hour surgery the same night to remove the flap. After these two surgeries I lost a lot of blood and needed a blood transfusion. All that said I am very happy with the ‘tummy tuck’ aspect of the surgery and that has given me no issue in terms of recovery compared to the masectomy area.
