Diep surgery vs implants

Welcome to the forum, I'm Daisy53 one of the Comnmunity Champions on this forum.  I'm sorry to hear that you were diagnosed with Breast Cancer and needed a mastectomy.  While I don't have the experience you are looking for I noticed that you haven't had any replies yet so I thought I'd reply to you to welcome you to the community. Don’t worry I saw the consultant yesterday and he said I couldn’t have an implant due to having had radiotherapy so said I should go for diep surgery. 

I had Diep surgery over the summer and unfortunately was one of the 5/100 statistics where the flap failed. The first surgery was almost 11 hours then need an additional emergency 3 hour surgery the same night to remove the flap. After these two surgeries I lost a lot of blood and needed a blood transfusion. All that said I am very happy with the ‘tummy tuck’ aspect of the surgery and that has given me no issue in terms of recovery compared to the masectomy area.
