Hi I am new here and was hoping that someone could share their experience of capsular contractor and the decision they made. I had a masectomy 7 years ago and have developed capsular contracture. My implant needs to be removed. The surgeons are great but are encouraging me to have a Diep Flap reconstruction. I am very small chested and having had a hysterectomy 5 years ago as well am thinking of having the implant removed and wearing a prosthetic. I am in my 50s and my surgeon is worried i will regret not having the reconstruction in a few years. Has anyone else had an implant removed and decided not to have any more reconstruction? Would love to hear your thoughts. Many thanks
Hi. Please could I ask, did you have radiotherapy before the implants were fitted? Did you have any tissue expander beforehand?
I am very small chested also and have been advised it’s either radiotherapy or implants.
Hi happy to answer any questions. I had the implant fitted at the same time as my mastectomy surgery and then radiotherapy after.
I hope you are doing well - it’s a lot to take in and getting the most information you can is a good idea.
