Hi everyone

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in July. Unfortunately it was also in my lymph nodes but luckily no secondaries. I am to have chemo every other week for 16 weeks (EC & Paclitaxel) then surgery and radiation.
I have already had 2 rounds of EC- that stuff is no joke!

Today I have found out that I have a blood clot in one of  the superficial veins in my arm. They have put me on blood thinners for a week. I am assuming this is just another delightful side effect but wondered if anyone else has had the same? I am now obviously anxious about infection as the clot disperses.

Another thing I am struggling with is that I feel like I have lost my identity. I can’t mum like before or wife and I am obviously signed off from work.
Thanks for reading x

  • Hi, thinking of you …

I was diagnosed in August with breast lump and lymph nodes affected. Started chemo yesterday with immunotherapy ( triple negative cancer )

Sorry can’t help with the blood clot …. Do you mind me asking how you found out you had it ?

  • Hi

I had EC last year, it was not easy. I had lots of side effects and fatigue was horrible. I didn't experience any blood clots, but the blood thinners will help you.

I was off work for 10months in total between op, chemo, radiotherapy. It took a good few months when the chemo finished to get some enenery back.

I am back at work but tire easily. Not sure if it's still after effects of what my body went through. Or the side effects of the Letrozole I take daily for the next 5 years.  They say it takes a while to regain energy and build up muscle again.

I wish you well in your recovery xx

  • Of course not. So my clot is quite a long one running from the elbow up towards my armpit. My arm felt quite tender between these two points and when I fully extended my arm I felt a pulling. I then had a red patch come up and so I went and had it checked after reading blood clots can be a side effect.
    Thinking of you xx
