Morning everyone
i had mastectomy, reconstruction and reduction in May; started chemo in July and just about to have my 3rd session of the Red Devil tomorrow,
My question is about the ongoing side effects of having Herceptin injections for a further 15 months. What is it like? Will I still have side effects and ‘lose’ several days or does it minimise as time goes on? Particularly worried that my hair won’t grow back!
Hello! Great news you’ve reached halfway herceptin/phesgo is a walk in the park by comparison. Make sure they inject it as slowly as they possibly can. My leg was a bit stiff afterwards and I got a big red slightly raised mark but that was it, no other side effects for me. I have a busy, strenuous job in a primary school and didn’t need any time off, other than to have the injections. My hair grew back very well, I think it was slightly slower than my friend who wasn’t on herceptin but if was thick, full coverage and was fine. All the best to you x
Well done, you are halfway through.
I have to agree with Anna12345
Phesgo is a walk in he park compared to chemo. I, too, work with children and have not had to have any time off,
My hair is also growing back, which is great. A little drier than previous hair and quite a few curls that I didn't have before!!!
Dont worry you will do fine.
Wishing you all the best.
