I had a lumpectomy in January and radiotherapy in march this year. For a over a week, I've had pain in the breast and under arm. I spoke to the BCN and she thought it might be the bit of gardening I had done. My breast feels heavy, tender and achy but no actual lump. Also having problems getting a bra to fit as my right breast is a bit bigger after the operation. I was told to continue with the exercises at my recent appointment. Any info is greatly received.
Hi Jules8591,
I had my lumpectomy and sentinels removed June last year, followed by chemo and radiotherapy. I'm now on hormone suppressants.
I like you have tenderness, heaviness and not pain as much as discomfort in my breast. Its difficult to explain. I had another lump. I went for a further mammogram to be told breast was still clear they could see my marker. They said it was probably scar tissue. I still have a small lump in area that was operated on so believe it's scar tissue or thickening from the radiotherapy.
I worry in case cancer back and they've missed something. Then I put my rational head on and know they removed the tumour, and all treatments are to prevent a recurrence.
It is a worry I'm not sure if it ever goes away. Hopefully through time we will remember we had aches and pains before cancer that had other causes.
I take reassurance that someone else is experiencing same as me. I also had an ache over weekend under my arm I think the discomfort was caused by an underwired bra.
If unsure at all get it checked. Please keep me updated on your recovery and experiences xx
Hi
I had lumpectomy and sentinel lymph nodes removed 3 years ago followed by radiotherapy.
Since then I intermittently have had heaviness in the affected boob and in armpit. Everyone said it wasn't unusual. After my 3 year mammogram 3 weeks ago. I got recalled for mammogram and u/s. It was the same boob with pain near armpit. Thankfully what they saw was only scar tissue. They think my most recent new pain Since that mammogram was due to a pinched nerve and would settle down in 2 weeks. Don't hesitate to contact your breast care team or your gp.
I hope this helps

I'm 8 years post lumpectomy and radiotherapy and my breast still hurts when I press it. I know it took a full year before it stopped 'normal' hurting when I lifted anything or did anything too strenuous. Just do as they say and do your normal exercises.
Could you buy an insert for your smaller breast so that your bra fits? I've not done this for mine (despite losing 8cm of it! - it was the side, so mine seems to fit) but some ladies might know of an insert that should be available for ladies that have had mastectomy - presumably all different sizes?
Kindest wishes, Lesley
I don't want to do underwires anymore though, as they are so uncomfortable after having been wearing compression bra's for a couple of months or so. I'm waiting delivery of a shapermint truekind shaping non wired bra. Not cheap, but I need to get into a proper bra and get some decent shape back lol.
Definitely don't try plunge styles tho-the uneveness is very noticeable x
