Hi there.

I've recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and start chemo next week. I would really appreciate any help as to what to expect and what I should and shouldn't be doing before, during and after chemo?

  • Hi LizW2025,

Welcome to the forum. I had my chemo EC  July to September last year. I had 4 cycles 3 weekly.

Listen to your body, accept any help offered from friends and family. Use your anxious energy experienced just now to do a big clean and shop.

I found I experienced extreme fatigue, resting and napping helped. I suffered gastric upset but kee a diary and tell of any side effects at each appointment they have pills for every side effect. If you get mouth ulcers freeze pineapple cubes there's enzymes in it that helps. It did.

Not everyone gets side effects some people manage to work throughout. I couldn't.

I thought I would be devastated loosing my hair I wasn't I didn't like it but accepted it would grow back in. My wig us lovely. I've now got enough hair not to wear a wig, back at work and living my life again. I'm still on hormone suppressants for 10 years and bone infusions.

I wish you well it is doable. Sending hugs xx

  • Hi there,

Thank you so much for reaching out and to just say it's doable - as you know, right at the start, it seems like an enormous mountain to climb, so this is lovely to hear!!

Thank you also for your hints and tips, especially the frozen pineapple!! Will be looking into all of this!!

    xx
