Hello. Today I have been diagnosed with grade 2 invasive ductal carcinoma ER and HER2positive. Will start chemo within next 6 weeks for up to 6 months.. any advice on what I can expect with the chemo would be much appreciated

  • Hi JR0102 welcome to the forum though I am sorry that you need to be here but glad that you have found this. You will be reeling from the news of that diagnosis and little wonder. However, it's also good that you have a plan in place for treatment. It's difficult to answer your question with any certainty as everyone responds differently to chemo.. However, I'm sure some of the lovely folks in here will be along to offer sone advice, but just remember we are ALL different.. Gail

  • Hi JR0102,

Welcome to the forum. I was diagnosed this time last year with grade 3 her2neg erpostitve prpositive. I had EC chemotherapy. My worst side effect was fatigue, some gastric upset and lost my hair. Although at the time it was difficult some days it was doable.

If you keep a diary of any side effects experienced and discuss with your team they have tablets to help alleviate all side effects.

Before my treatments started I had a heart echo everyone does. I also had a picc line inserted to receive my treatments. It was uncomfortable at first getting used yo showering with a plastic cover on your arm but again you get used to it.

I also had a lumpectomy and lymph nodes removed. Radiotherapy and now on Letrozole.

Happy to answer any questions about my journey that might be helpful.

I am now back at work and have hair albeit short no longer require to wear my wig. Wishing you well on with your treatment plan and recovery xx
