Hi,
I’m here to seek support and advice, mum had breast cancer August 24, had left breast removed and loads of lymph nodes from arm pit. She opted out of radiotherapy but in fairness doctors never said if it was important or not. Forward to December 24 she started getting severe pain in her right shoulder and back and got told to go to A&E where she sat 7 hours waiting to be seen. X-ray showed nothing so after about 6 weeks of asking doctor for a scan it came back back she had a tumour on her spine cancer spread into bones. She had one shot of radiotherapy which helped with pain. She has no Feeling in her right arm and now left arm is going the same way . We seen oncologist for first time 3 weeks ago and they said she has months not weeks left to live. She was very poorly vomiting and nauseous a few weeks ago she wasn’t eating but they have given her anti sickness pills which have helped dramatically. She’s eating plenty and sleeping well but no energy. She’s 72 and still smoking but that’s her choice nothing will change giving up now.
Just wondered if anyone else is going through the same?
Hi Pammie52 welcome to the forum. What's been happening for you and your family is so hard to take in and even process. I may be wrong here but if the Doctors wanted radiotherapy then they would have insisted that that was part of your mums treatment plan. The loss of feeling could be nerve damage as that's where all our nerves start out from. I'm wondering if you might want to post into the Carers only thread on the forum as then you could speak with other carers. Little changes and inputs seem to be of help and that's good as mum can then live her life as she wants too. How is she feeling about the news you have received? Gail
Hi thanks for your reply . It’s my first time posting so not sure what I’m doing to be fair . The scan showed the pain was due to a tumour so that’s why she got a shot of radio to contain it . It did help with pain for a while . She’s been told there’s nothing more can be done it’s just pain management with palliative care now xx
