I got my biopsy results yesterday and it's IDC I'm still waiting for results of ER/PR and HER2 to confirm my treatment plan which should be done over the next week.

Feeling pretty detached from it all like it's happening to someone else don't think it's really had tine to sink in yet.

  • Hi Lily2024

Welcome to the forum, I'm Daisy53 one of the Community Champions on this forum.  I'm sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer.  Take all the time you need to let in sink in as there is no right or wrong way to feel about a cancer diagnosis.  Breast cancer is very treatable these days.  I was diagnosed with er/pr breast cancer just over two years ago and after having surgery, chemo and radiotherapy I made a full recovery and I'm still cancer free.

Wishing you the best of luck with the rest of your results and whatever treatment your medical team puts you on.

    Best wishes

  • Hi

Sorry you have to be here, but welcome!

It’s such a shock to find out you have cancer, no wonder you are feeling as you are. I went to work the afternoon of my diagnosis in a daze as if everything was okay so clearly hadn’t sunk in at that point! Things did become real soon enough and I struggled for a while but had some sessions of MacMillan counselling which really helped. My cancer was ER+/HER2- and I had a lumpectomy, radiotherapy and taking tamoxifen for five years. None of these were anywhere near as bad as I imagined. A year later I’m happy and, as far as I know, healthy (fingers crossed as awaiting first follow up mammogram results). As  has said, breast cancer is very treatable.

Everyone here is there to support you and answer any questions you may have. x

  • Thank you I'm hoping once I have a treatment plan in place I'll feel a bit better I cant stand not knowing what's going on and what the plans are
