Just needed to off load a bit. I've been coping quite well with my mum's diagnosis, she's had 4 weeks of chemo so far. Tomorrow I'm taking her to have her head shaved and her wig fitted.

This part, neither of us are ready for. It's now getting more real, if that makes sense? She's chosen 2 beautiful wigs and also a head scarf

  • Hi , just wanted to say you are doing really well supporting your mum through.this so please know that she will be really touched by your love for her .

i have had cancer twice since 2012 and the most difficult part was telling my two daughters . It’s heartbreaking .

on May 11th this year we are all taking part in Race for Life for Cancer Research . It means si much to me that my family have and still  are supporting me .

Be proud of yourself and continue to be at your mums side . It will mean a lot to her and help her fight this battle .

,wishing you both all the very best fir the future ..

    Stay strong !!

  • Hi Hewett25

Welcome to the forum, I'm Daisy53 one of the Community Champions on this forum.  I'm sorry to hear about your Mum's diagnosis.  I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer over four years ago and after having chemo, surgery and radiotherapy I made a full recovery and I'm still cancer free.

Best wishes to you and your Mum.

  • Thankyou for your reply

We had a lovely experience at her wig fitting today, we've found an absolute angel called Angela.  My mum looks absolutely beautiful

  • Thankyou for your reply Blush

  • I’m so happy that both you and your mum had a lovely experience at Mums wig fitting. My daughter has been by my side from the start and  I’m so pleased that your mum has the same with you. It makes Grinninge journey so much better. Wigs mean no bad hair day.GrinningGrinningGrinningGrinning

  • Sorry to hear this, this must be very hard. If you don’t mind me asking, has she tried the cold cap? It can be very effective at keeping her hair.

  • She'd had a chat about the cold cap before chemo had started, and decided that it wasn't for her.
