Hi fellow members, this is my 1st post, like many others this has come out the blue for us and we are learning as we go along.
My wife found a lump in her armpit on Valentines day of all days, went to A&E straight away and was put in contact with the breast clinic. Further tests followed quick and was diagnosed with HER2 breast cancer which had spread to the lymph nodes. Had the 1st Chemo session last Friday 25th April, got another 7 to go (1 every 3 weeks). We have decided to do the count down backwards, last Friday was day 167 with day 0 being 3 weeks after the last chemo session. It's a long way to go but day by day we will get there.
We are now at the end of day 163 and so far the side effects have been quite mild, I am keeping a daily calendar using the traffic light system for every day, so far each day has been a GREEN day. I am happy to share our diary on here if anyone finds it useful.
we have heard different stories from different people about when the nasty side effects kick in and these vary from after just a few days to after the 3 session. I suppose different people and different treatment effect people differently.
HI Atlam Sorry to hear that your wife has been diagnosed with HER2 breast cancer which has spread to her lymph nodes.
I love the way you are counting down and using a traffic light system and good to hear she's had green days so far!
This is an exceptionally busy group as breast cancer seems to be the most prolific form of cancer, but due to this treatments for it are continually progressing (I was diagnosed nearly 8 years ago and there's a couple of treatments that are available now for ER+ - the type I had, that wasn't around for me).
Do keep coming to the forum, sharing and asking as I am sure there are many women who will benefit from your information vs you may find some new information that will help your wife for her specific type of cancer.
Kindest Wishes, Lesley
