Hi all, went for my first breast screening and got diagnosed with breast cancer last Thursday. Had biopsies and ultrasound done and waiting for results next week. Feeling anxious and concerned. Hope it's been caught early as barely any symptoms.
Hi JLO - it’s a scary place you’re in but be assured that there is so much support and information available, on here and NHS recommended sites, booklets and leaflets.
I was diagnosed from routine mammogram in Feb and was in total shock and disbelief. Angry and sad. It’s a lot to take in. I found talking about my feelings, concerns and questions helped me get my head round it a bit better. The not knowing was the worse bit. Waiting for information and results is hard. The day after my results I had a weekend away planned from months before and it really did help to take my mind off it and give myself a break from thinking so much. I felt better equipped to make decisions, face the treatment and boosted me a bit. Take time to do things you enjoy and feel good while you’re waiting. It’s natural to be nervous and scared. Write down any questions you might have as you think of them. Try not to randomly google as it only makes you feel more worried. Trust the team and don’t be afraid to let them know your concerns and they will do their best to help you cope at an emotional time. I hope all goes well for you.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
