How long should I wear compression socks after surgery?
the hospital said 3 weeks, but that seems a long time.
The hospital told me to take them off before I left hospital (24 hours from my op).
i suspect it’s decided on a case by case basis.
I was told 6 weeks!!
Does it depend on op maybe? Age/BMI etc
I had mastectomy/immediate reconstruction
40 with healthy BMI, so I'm not sure
I think it depends on how active you are after surgery and how well you are recovering. I didn't wear any when I got home and regretted it as my feet did swell quite a bit. I bought some after 2 days and probably wore them for another week until everything had settled down.

When I had my hip replaced, I was advised to wear them until I had achieved normal levels of mobility. When I had a lumpectomy I was up and about normally the next day so I guess it depends on the nature of your surgery and recovery.
