Hi my name is Alan.Iam a 70 year old male who has had breast cancer surgery last April . And I have had radiotherapy eight weeks after the surgery .now lam at the stage of taking two types of tablets.for my cancer. One is a hormone tablet that I have to take for ten years. And I take another tablet that I have to take for two years to get rid of the cancer that is in two of my lymph nodes
Hi Alan ,
it’s unusual to read a comment from a male regarding breast cancer but I know it happens quite a lot .
i am pleased you are over your surgery and radiotherapy and hope you continue to recover well .
how are you getting on with the medication ? I was unable to take the pills because of side effects but , as I’ve recently had a scare which involved discolouration and a biopsy 14 months after the radiotherapy, I considering trying it again .
best wishes for the future
Carole
Hi Onyman and another warm welcome to the forum. It’s a club that none of us wanted to join but a great place for support and shared experiences. I’m on hormone tablets too (Anastrozole) which I don’t love but they’re hopefully keeping the beast at bay! Love and hugs, HFxx
Hi Alan
lm so sorry you have had to joined this club that no one wants to be in .
lm a similar age to you and had surgery January 24 , followed by radiotherapy.
lm on Anastrazole , which l must admit l find difficult.. originally 5 years but from a second opinion it was suggested 10 yesrs
Although breast obviously happens to Men it’s not something l would guess that you were expecting. Must have been a terrible shock …..lm so sorry
However this is such a supportive group l hope you can get some comfort and answers if you have any from those of us who are experiencing a similar journey to you
sending Love
Hi Alan, so sorry you find yourself here but you’re very welcome. Of course you are welcome to post anywhere on the site but also wanted to alert you to a thread called ‘blokes with breast cancer’ I’m useless and I’ve tried to post a link but failed so I’m going to tag BWBCancer who started the thread to try and connect you. Maybe someone more technical can post the link x
