Hi, i recently got my breast cancer diagnosis and treatment will be letrozole and mastectomy, plan was flap reconstruction but I choose not to and had a little struggle to convince them I want a bilateral mastectomy and use prosthetics. I had DCIS in both breasts in 2007 and 2008 and have been living with pain for as long as I can remember so there is this strange sensation of being sad about them going and relief they will. Had my pre op, and now waiting for my talk to psychologist and operation date. Any tips will be greatly appreciated as how to prepare for the mastectomy and life after
Hi , so sorry to hear of your diagnosis and your worries about the future .
i haven’t had the experience you’re going to have but I did have surgery and Radiotherapy in 2023 and now have something else going on , awaiting biopsy results .
i do hope all goes well for you and send you my best wishes . Be brave , talk to your friends and family , eat healthily and get lots of rest .
Hi Emmiedog, I had a left mastectomy and was offered reconstruction with prosthetics but chose to go flat my only wish is that they didn’t do both.
My scar has healed beautifully and it is very important that you do the excercises to regain full movement in your arms and to prevent lymphoma.
Good luck with your recovery Xxx
