Hi

I am 35 years old mum of two. In December 2024 i was diagnosed with breast cancer alrdy spread into the auxilla lymphs. Type is invasive ductal carcinoma. Hormones negative, her2 positive.

End of January, i started my chemotherapy treatment. It will be chemo for 18 weeks (6 rounds) followed by surgery followed by radiotherapy. Will be taking herceptin injections for a year.

I have been reading about the her2 positive i have. And the fact that it is aggressive with higher chances of recurrence. I am worried.

As am still young, I would love to hear about survivors stories who had her2 positive and cancer didn't occur in at least 10 years. Please share ur stories or stories of ur mum, sisters etc.

Thank u so much

  • Thank you for sharing. I wish u complete recovery.

Your friend's story gives so much hope. I wish i will make it without recurrence and live my life in peace after.

  • It is really difficult and different when we get cancer at an early age. I wish u complete recovery. Hopefully we will make it. I am reading through survivors stories who have similar diagnosis like ours ; things are hopeful especially with these targeted therapies for her2.

As you are young, i want to ask you if they are giving u this "Goserelin injection". I am having it. Oncologist mentioned it delays menopause as we still young..

  • Thanks for sharing. Today am having my second round. During the first round, the main side effects were the severe stomach/bowl pains. Is there a particular medication that worked for u? You are right, such awful side effects!!

I am having the drugs through the cannula. It was the oncologist choice. Didn't question it tbh. Amd didn't search much abt it. What are the pros of port vs cannula. Is there a particular benefit besides avoiding the needles etc?

  • Thanks for sharing. I wish u complete recovery. Tbh am as well worried being it her2+. One thing i think about, is that after we are done with these chemo, surgery, radio.. and the targeted therapy for a year, afterwards we will still be having these mammograms and mri for the breasts, but what about other organs? What if her2 was being overexpressed in other organs and not the breasts, how will we know. I mean we could figure it with the breasts because of lumps, thickness etc but how will we figure it out earlty for other organs. Do u know what i mean. I didn't gave the chance to ask the oncologist these questions.

  • Hi, I had the same diagnosis as you. I’m on Anastrazole though and also have 6 monthly Zoldronic acid. Did you have lymph nodes removed?

  • I have not had my surgery yet. I am doing chemo before surgery. I think they'll remove lymph nodes yea because multiple ate affected

  • Oh ok, wishing you all the best with your treatment. Here if you need any support x

  •

thank you, I wish you complete recovery tooHeart️

unfortunately I didn’t get the zoladex (goserelin) before my first chemo, I did have my eggs frozen, but I think it might have been an oopsie by my oncologist that I didn’t have it, but I’m not sure. I’ve only found out about zoladex this week so need to call my oncologist before cycle 2 to discuss.
how are you finding the zoladex? I know it’s a nasty needle they inject you with!

  • Yea it is a nasty needle but nothing more. I dont feel side effects afterwards.

  • Wonderful I’m glad you didn’t feel side effects! I’ll chase my oncologist about it. I hope you’re feeling a little more reassured after original post but please message me at any time if you’re having a wobble :)
