Hi, I was diagnosed with DCIS and it’s covering a very large percentage of my breast which will need to be removed leaving me with very little left. I’m an E cup so the disproportion will look pretty obvious.
I’m willing to go down a cup size or two with my good breast to a D cup. I’m just wondering if anyone got breast reconstruction to fill the operated breast with fat grafting and if it was successful for them?
Hi there, I'm one of the community champions on this group and I just noticed your post hasn’t had any replies, as the site is quite busy. Whilst unfortunately I don't have the experience to help you myself, my response will bump you back to the top of the forum and I am sure someone with the right experience will be along soon. Best wishes
Hi - I’m currently trying to decide if I go for recon. I’m a f-g cup and have neck problem meaning tricky to have any weight on my shoulders. I have had really good support to find out the options - my breast nurse supported me to go and coppa feel of some fake boobs. And I also saw plastic surgeon who was able to say what he could offer - different for everyone based on size of boob and other stuff. My offer is recon using tummy fat plus a reduction and lift on the healthy side for symmetry. I joined two Facebook groups - flat friends let you join for a month while deciding (you leave if recon) and that was v helpful as connected with some people my cup size and also joined the diep reconstruction uk site which has lots of folk having or have had a reconstruction using tummy. The plastics nurse has also found someone who had the op for me to speak to. I’d say talk to a plastic surgeon for the info on what you could have and I’d also do the feeling up bit! Clearly decision is all yours which is the bit I’m struggling with but getting all the info is helpful.
I spoke with 2 surgeons this week. Both don’t recommend diep flap until after the pathology comes back and they don’t need to go in and take more. So I‘m now thinking of a mastectomy with a silicon implant and then if I want later to go for a diep flap after a year. The recovery with the implant is faster than the diep. .
