Hello everyone, I'm new here. I hope to catch up on previous discussions soon.

My main problem is my mouth is so sore, I'm finding it it very difficult to eat and i'm miserable.

I'm on round 4 of 6 of 3 weekly chemo for her2 positive breast cancer and having 3 weekly Herceptin injections.

Does anyone have a magic cure?

Thanks Pray

  • Hi

I had exactly the same problem I was given gel and mouth wash but it didn’t work. Then I was given Nystatin liquid and it was fantastic and the boy thing that helped.

Ask your oncologist or GP unless you’ve already tried it.

    Good luck x

  • Hi Spongepudding,

My nurse at the chemotherapy unit told me to freeze pineapple juice and then crush the cubes to slushy and suck when mouth sore.

This helped apparently there's enzymes in the pineapple that help your mouth. It worked for me.

    Good luck xx

  • Hi  so sorry to hear this, not being able to eat was one of the things I found most difficult during chemo.   I also found pineapple more bearable than other things, and the coolness of cucumber was ok for me too.   Maybe it's a bit of trial and error to see what works and if it gets any better towards the end of each 3 week cycle (it did for me).   But you are half way there now, so on the downhill slope, best wishes
