Recurrent Breast Cancer in the Same Breast 9 Years Later???

Hello, I'm entirely new to this website.     Although I had breast cancer 9+ years ago I did not join the site then.      So really I'm a newby.    But, last weekend I found a new lump in the breast where I previously had a lumpectomy and lymph node removal, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and ongoing hormone treatment.    It's a week since I saw my GP and I was referred to the fast track breast screening clinic.   I haven't got an appointment yet.    I was hoping I would have one by now,  but  as it is now the weekend I will have to wait until next week to hear.    I just feel so anxious.      I'm wondering if anyone has found a lump in the same breast again and is now well and enjoying life.    I'm finding it harder this time to be positive about the treatment and scared about my prognosis.

Best wishes,

J

  • Hi, really sorry this could be happening again. So yes, sort of, it sounds like your first BC was more serious than mine but I had DCIS in 2013 and then IDC HER2 positive in 2021, in the same breast. Then I had another lump last year that turned out to be a sebaceous cyst in the armpit above my node clearance. And I’m here, I’m doing well. The fear will never go, having had treatment twice and I know I’m high risk because both occurred before I was 50 and the second was HER2 but. I was scared when I found the 3rd lump and really thought it was game over but it wasn’t. As hard as it is, try and wait until it’s been checked. Hopefully it’s nothing, but if it is something, you will deal with it, exactly as you did the first time, you just need to find a way through. All the best to you. There are others on here who’ve got similar stories. If you click on our names some of us have detailed our BC and treatments. Good luck x

  • Thanks Anna,    It's lovely to hear from you and to hear a little of your experience and how it echoes my own in the repetition of lumps,   Thanks for talking some common sense into me.    Take care, Jxx

  • It’s so hard once you’ve been through what we have, natural to worry. Always post when you’re feeling worried or just need to speak to people who know, there’s a good bunch on here. All the best xx
