Kadcyla

After 6 cycles of Doxetaxel, Carboplatin and Phesgo every 3 weeks ftom June for grade 3 5cm her2 positive invasive ductal carcinoma in left breast. I had an almost complete response to chemo and was left with 5mm before surgery to remove the rest. I start 15 rounds of radiotherapy on 19th of November.

I've been told that I start 14 rounds of kadcyla every 3 weeks from 18th December.

My question is; is 9 days between finishing radiotherapy and starting kadcyla a long enough time to recover? It seems a bit rushed, but because my treatment happens on Wednesdays I think that Christmas and New Year are an issue. This is my 1st time posting x

  • Hi Miss Willow welcome to the forum and I am sorry that you have not had a reply as yet. I would say to you that Radiotherapy can leave you feeling very tired and then starting another med so close to the end of that could potentially leave you feeling wiped out. Is it possible that 2 different departments are involved 1) for radiotherapy and 2) for kadcyla. They may not be fully aware of the closeness of the two treatments. Is it worth speaking to the breast clinic directly and check this out with them.

  •  Hi, I mentioned it to the nurse in the chemo unit. Shes contacting my oncologist. I think the issue is that Wednesday is breast day in the chemo unit and the following 2 are Christmas and New Year. If I have to I will, but I'd much rather wait until after New year. Fingers crossed they'll take pity on me!

Thank you so much for getting back to me.
