Hi everyone this is the first time I have used or joined a forum, I have had a mastectomy of the right breast 5 days ago and I have this horrible sharp stabbing pain that hurts so much . .is this something others get? Is there anything that helps with this pain?
Hi all do people suffer with chest pain and more regular headaches whilst on chemotherapy and immunotherapy. On my alert cards for the immuno this is something they say I need to call them about,I will of course. But I'm 2 sessions in to a very long coyrsebifbchemo/ immuno and have already been to a and e twice.I just want reassurance that maybe this is a more rare side effect that annkylynibhave but nothing to worry about rather any going to a and e all the time for hours of them to say things look "ok"Thanks so much Sarah
Hi Leesey , welcome to the forum, like you I hadn’t used one before but have been rattling around here for nearly 6 years now! Great place for support and shared experiences.
Re stabbing pains after mastectomy - I had a lumpectomy but did have odd pains afterwards, I think there can be a mix of nerve pain and pain associated with healing. So your pain may well be in the range of what is considered ‘normal’. But I would err on the side of caution and phone the breast clinic just to check. My op was 6 years ago but I can still remember having more swelling than I’d expected and was glad that I took the step of phoning the breast nurses - they saw me in the clinic and it turned out I had a large haematoma. It didn’t need treating in the end, thankfully , as initially they thought they might need to drain it, but they saw me briefly every few days to check it was (slowly) subsiding. I feel it’s always better to get things checked out. Love and hugs, HFxx
Hi Sar87 , sorry you’re having chest pains and headaches during your treatments, I can’t really comment as I didn’t have chemo or immunotherapy. If these are on the alert card though I’d definitely phone the team. It sounds like you’ve had a few trips to an and e, which is horrible, would your chemo or immunotherapy team give advice on the phone? Hopefully someone with more experience than me will respond with more useful advice. Love and hugs, HFxx
