Really scared. Waiting for bone scan, CT scans and MRI for staging then chemo, followed by surgery Can't sleep and keep doom scrolling.. 43 years old with 2 children. Any advice to on staying positive? Thank you.
Hi Loug, sorry to hear of your diagnosis, I too was triple positive and had my diagnosis last September. If you click on my name you can read my journey. I didn’t have an mri or bone scan. I just had a CT/PETscan. I put my trust in my medical team at not needing anymore scans or tests. I had surgery first (2 times as I had to have lymph node clearance too as 1 sentinel node was positive.) I then chemo, radiotherapy, targeted treatment and hormone tablets. I have 3 more targeted injections to go. The year has gone past fast and although I was terrified I look back and think well at the time it was hard going but doable and now I’m just getting on with things as normal. There were days I wanted to give up but then I pulled myself together and thought “come on you have a lovely husband and wonderful kids pull yourself together and get through it like 1,000s of other people.” Hey presto it helped. Someone gave me this advice
“you are basically a passenger during treatment so try and focus on the view (the good stuff that surrounds us) and leave the driving and stress to your medical team.” It is an unsettling time and Google is best avoided. It’s full of scare stories. Stick with the forum, you will find lots of support and helpful advice from everyone. I admit I found it hard to stay positive until I started treatment but once underway it was easier. Easier said than done but try and get out and about with your kids and have fun. If you can, get yourself immersed in Christmas. It’s a game of patience waiting for tests and results and I know we have all been the same with finding it hard to cope until we have a plan and things are underway. Wishing you all the best
