Hello Everyone, i’m new to the group, recently diagnosed with TNBC in the left breast, I go for my first chemotherapy session on Friday, a bit nervous but anxious to get started,I’m also going to try the cold cap as i have waist length hair so any advice would be great

  • Hi Flamingo18

Welcome to the forum and I am sorry to hear that you have been recently diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer.  Make sure to bring a warm blanket with you to use when you are on the cold capping machine and bring plenty of stuff to keep yourself occupied while you are on the chemo ward.  Also bring some snacks with you in case you feel hungry although your unit might supply them.  Also wear maybe a tracksuit bottoms in case you need to visit the bathroom.  Make sure you drink plenty of fluids during and after chemo to help flush out the toxins in your body.  You will be given a load of tablets to take home with you to help with any side effects you may have, take as and when you need them and if you are feeling unwell at any stage make sure to let the ward know and they can change your medication if need be.  You will be given the number of the chemo ward before you leave so that you can ring them if you need to and you will also be given an out of hours number to ring when the chemo unit is closed.

Wishing you the best of luck with your treatment and hopefully the side effects will be kind to you.

    Best wishes
