I've only just been diagnosed. 2cm breast cancer? It likes oestrogen apparently. I'm having a lumpectomy in January. Not looking forward to that needle for radioactive stuff in my booby. Not relishing oestrogen inhibitor either. Is it really necessary? 10 years or till I fall off my perch of hot flushes, anxiety, osteoporosis, fat, mood swings etc. What's the chances of a reoccurrence of cancer? Is it worth 10 years of misery to avoid maybe getting it again?
Hi, Sorry you have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I had a 2cm tumour removed in June '22 and then went on to have radiotherapy. The procedure with the needle was over quite quickly. I appreciate that people have different experiences, but just to say I have been taking Anastrozole for over a year now. I get the occasional hot flush for a few seconds. I have found that certain brands work best for me and I have asked my pharmacy not to prescribe the ones I don't feel suit me. I find exercise also helps. There is a lot of support on here and I also found it really helpful to contact my breast care team and the Macmillan nurses when I had any concerns or wanted explanations on procedures, medication etc, so that I could make informed choices. Be kind to yourself and take one day at a time. I wish you all the best.
