Hi All
I had a successful lumpectomy 4 weeks ago for DCIS. Unfortunately, a small lobular cancer was evident on margin of the healthy margin of original surgery, so am about to go through surgery again in two weeks. Feeling apprehensive and hopeful that they have caught it early. It would have gone undetected if I hadn’t had surgery, as it it often not detected in routine mammograms or ultrasound.
Hi, sorry you have to go through surgery again. I too had a second surgery because DCIS showed up in my margins. I was diagnosed first with tubular cancer. The breast care nurse told me to just take it as a second step in the process. Apparently this does happen. I had two weeks of radiotherapy. Mine wasn’t detected in routine mammogram either. Best wishes for your second surgery.
