afternoon everyone - Slight smile

diagnosed early September and now 2 weeks along from LICAP procedure and struggling a bit, still very sore and arm movement is limited, I am doing the exercises but grateful if anyone has any tips!

  • Hi HJD

Welcome to the forum and I am sorry to hear that you had breast cancer and that you are struggling after your operation.  Don't be too hard on yourself as you are only two weeks out from the procedure and it takes time to get over an operation.  Keep doing the arm exercises and rest when you need to.

    Mind yourself

    Best wishes

  • Two weeks is not very long.  But if you’re worried maybe call the breast care nurse.  Or do you have a post op appointment scheduled?

  • Many thanks will do!

  • Yes I do tomorrow - been very tired so maybe that’s not helping! Many thanks

  • Hi, I'm 2 weeks post surgery and reconstruction. Still sore and limited arm movement as well but it's what I expected at this point. I remember my consultant saying that recovery is longer after a reconstruction that just a lumpectomy. I have been doing the exercises but also taking it easy if it's sore. I've also just found getting out for short walks (between the rain!) and doing some deep breathing/ meditation has helped as well. Definitely less sore when I find ways to relax. Take care xx

  • Hi HJD

I massaged the shoulder and top of arm with a bit of oil before exercises. I found I was holding the left side (my cancer was in left) stiff during the day which hindered my exercises.  I also took pain killers half an hour before.

Just do as much as you can and listen to what your body tells you.  Little and often worked for me.  I'd say it was four weeks before I started to feel I was getting there and everyone is different.  Two weeks isn't a long time after major surgery.  You're doing great.

    Good luck.

    xx
