I had a biopsy taken 8 days ago after finding a lump. The lump I felt was actually confirmed as a fibroadenoma. However on mammogram and ultrasound another lump was seen and was said to have micro-calcifications….Up until now I have remained quite grounded but the longer without results the more I’m worrying. I was told if the biopsy showed cancer I would receive a phone call but if it’s benign I will receive a letter. I’m hopeful maybe the longer it’s taking perhaps means I will be hopefully getting a letter and not a phone call.
How long roughly did others wait for results?
Thank you
Hi and welcome to the forum. Fingers crossed your results are ok. I waited about 2 weeks for my results in July. That seems the norm. I had been given an appointment to go back for them. Have been back three times before after mammograms and always clear. But this time unfortunately it was not. But we are strong and you just have to get on with it and accept it all. I hope everything is ok, but if not you have come to a great place and you will receive a lot of support on here. Let us know how it all goes. I wish you well xx
Orchid23 Thanks so much for welcoming me and I’m sorry that after several all clears you eventually got not nice results. Sending you love and support for your journey.
I have been at the breast clinic about 3 times for fibroadenoma and simple cysts.
This time the person doing my ultrasound called in a consultant to discuss the “area of interest” she said absolutely biopsy that and then said that in 2021 I had calcifications in the same area however now they have changed and increased. I wasn’t even aware of the previous calcifications as they never mentioned them back then. I presume they must have seen them but thought then they were of no concern.
I guess I thought I was pretty calm as I know that the majority of biopsies are benign…but now my mind seems to be beginning to worry.
thanks so much, your support is a welcome hug at this time - I will let you know how I get on x
It seems to be an ‘area of interest’ doesn’t it ? I know two years ago they said the same and that there was a ‘shadow’. But on ultrasound, nothing showed up. I was lucky they did a 3d mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy this time. Caught early and small. So a good result. Just awaiting radiotherapy now next week. So far it’s been ok. You are right that the major of biopsies are benign, so will hope yours is that. I wouldn’t worry too much yet. Take care xx
