Hi all, I’m 2 chemo treatments down and another 10 to go, so I think that would be 4 cycles all in all.

I had a little nausea and fatigue for a few days after my first treatment. My second has felt a little more dramatic. I’m struggling to sleep, my face has broken out into teenage acne, I’m feeling quite low and my period has started which is fun.

im cold capping but my hair feels painful if that makes sense.

if anyone is around to share their side effects so far do let me know, I feel like I’m going a little insane.

hope everyone is doing ok

  • Hi there CKC yes have experienced the dry mouth and sore gums and tongue.  I have mouth wash provided eases a little.  I also drink lemo and honey and green tea for it.

  • Melatoni is said to be good for relaxation as well as the cancer and to provide a better sleep, although it suits some, it tends to give me indigestion, but have been told to try half dose.

  • also buy some sugar free gum if mouth is not too sore, i had sores with first rounds, got magic mouthwash, wasn't greatly magic, but helped, then a gingivtus that cleared it up, but dr suggested xylitol gum, which i could only face after the ulcers cleared.

the xylitol helps your mouth as has anti inflammatory properties, i chewed some during taxol and never had sore mouth, like not every day or all day, but when mouth felt dry or icky, i would chew some gum, and seemed to help

  • Fab thanks lovely xxxxx

  • I have had mouth symptoms in the last two days, very extreme - throat, lips, tongue, gums... difficult to eat, talk or drink.  A friend who has been through similar suggested getting Folinic Acid which worked for her....only available it seems at herbal / Naturopath places.  It is fine to take, chemist researched it while we were there but said not available at chemists.   Think I would rather have the extreme tiredness.

  • not sure everything leaves the body after 72 hours..... a week and half later  I am suffering terribly with mouth ulcers, so much I could cry, would rather have the tiredness.  I have often been tired upto a week or more later, usually a very active person.  When you think what it is doing to our body.  And we are required to have good white cells for a chemo session and yet I read that the chemo itself destroys some of these white cells - so  we have to build back up.

  • ask dr for another mouthwash, i had ulcers for weeks, the mayic mouthwash kind of muted them but didnt stop then got Peridex and it cleared them in about a week.

i am currently suffering pins and needles in hands and feet, and feeling tight in legs arms and just generally a bit sore, two and a bit weeks down from last paclitaxel. feelin a tad defeated tbh

some days im like oh a bit hetter then the next owowow

hang in there ask for another mouthwash hugs

  • Hi there

Sorry you have bad mouth ulcers.

My mouth has generally just been dry etc feeling more thirsty. Also given steroids to build back up for 4 days after treatment,  they caused awful heart burn, belching still not quite right. Appreciate the info. My treatment is every 3 weeks,  I'm one week in & can b down n up, fatigued, achey, sore. Had a brilliant day, day after treatment!!..Cx

  • Hiya I'm the same re the legs....tired achey etc, make sure I try to do stretching on my mat as I have normally been so active. This is all a different mode to me now!

    • Yeah definitely up n down, and more pain at night Crescent moon xxx
  • How is everyone doing?

does anyone else get that side effect a day after chemo where you feel full but you haven’t eaten anything? Terrible diarrhoea pains and sometimes vomiting but again you feel like you’re stuffed full? I’ve had that all day and I’ve barely been able to keep anything down. I’ve finished my 3rd cycle so I’m quite a way through it it’s just weird it comes so randomly.
