Hi, I'm new here!
Grade 2 Invasive breast cancer. Mastectomy and DIEP in July.
Waiting for start date of chemo. Wondered if I should get a wig beforehand? Anything else I could do or I should know.
Thanks
Hi Noemi, sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Yes it’s worth going to get some wigs checked out before hand that way they can see your style and hair colour and find something close to suit (unless you want to be daring and try something completely different )
I went to my local MacMillan centre where they had a lady who specialised in wigs and she was able to help. She was able to order in a few for me to try before I commuted to the one I liked. A Maggies centre should also be able to help.
You can go direct to a wig shop but you would need to Google those. Not sure what they are like but maybe someone on the forum can offer help on that side.
Wishing you all the best

Im Not sure yet if i am having chemo or radiotherapy. If they decide chemo then im going to rock the funky bald look. If not i will go for something that looks real but completely different. Maybe pink. Everyone is different in this respect and you do whatever is right for you. Someone was actually telling me that your hair grows back quicker and thicker but they may have said this to just be nice. Whatever you decide the main thing is that the dratted C will be gone. Sending love and hugs. Lizzyl
