advice please
Been feeling off for a while can’t say I’ve felt ill as such just not me. Bit like drunk where you feel not quite with it. Been dizzy and beyond tired and brain just not fully in gear . Ended up being off work last couple of weeks and diagnosed last Thursday breast cancer. Is the other things linked I’m still feeling dizzy and drained and not myself is this a related symptom or just a coincidence.
Sick note runs out tomorrow and O still don’t feel well as such to go back to work but been off 2 weeks already and obviously will need time off when chemo starts.
Sorry about your diagnosis. Could it be that the dizziness and general off feeling be stress and worry? I know I feel like you have described when I am stressed. Going through the tests for a cancer diagnosis is definitely stressful. Even if you think you are coping with it all, you may not realise how stressed you are. You do need time to process your diagnosis. Some people need time away from work to do that whilst others do that by working and having routine. You need to do what is right for you. I would go back to your gp and have a chat with your breast nurse, if have given given one already, about how you are feeling.
As we have all learnt during this journey you cannot predict how your treatment is going to affect you. I didn't need lots of time off work during chemo. Just a few days each cycle. So wait until you have your treatment plan and take it one step at a time.
Great words from Livwithlob!! So sorry to hear that you are feeling rough. I agree with lib that stress can make you feel unwell. We all try to cope with what is happening but it’s a great toll on our bodies. I would go back to gp as it could also be unrelated. Personally I’ve felt really fine since being diagnosed but everyone is so different. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon. Xxx
So sorry about your diagnosis, I too was recently diagnosed and not sure how things are going to pan out. Like you I felt “not myself” and like I was drunk - it all made sense after diagnosis. I went back to work for a week and I didn’t cope very well. Thankfully my employer is very supportive and she’ll have told me to take all the time I need. I’m planning to fill the time doing things around the house that I’ve putting off for a while.
Why don’t you speak to your GP just incase there are other things going on. Or the bc nurse for further advice.
I’m all over the place but I’m taking each day as it comes. Being on here is also helping.

I think vague symptoms of cancer are not really understood or taken seriously, but they are real. 31 years ago before my diagnoses the left side of my body didn't feel right, but no actual symptoms. It's very hard to explain. My friend also had a year of not feeling right and fought with doctors just to get a blood test. She said she knew there was something wrong with her body. She had lung cancer, and cancer of the oesophagus, but no actual symptons of both cancers! This time round for me I am under Gp for a stomach ache, at the very top of my abdomen in the centre. My tumour was same breast as last time, but lower inner quadrant, 4.1cm. I have not had any stomach issues since my Mastectomy last Monday, and this ache was a daily occurrence.
Sorry to hear all you and your friend have both gone through
hope you are resting and getting looked after and glad no more stomach issues for you
I’ve not felt right for so long and knew I wasn’t well so it’s definitely something as others say the same
X
