Hi everyone , thank you for letting me join your group.
I was initially diagnosed in July this year with an invasive ducal carcinoma , grade 2 , ER positive , HER2negative .
It was a bit of a shock , as due to Breast cancer being rife in my family , I had tested negative for carrying the BRACA genes , ah we live and we learn don’t we .
booked in for a mastectomy and immediate reconstruction early October .
i’ve been fine up till the last week when I have experienced a severe reaction to the Letrozole (5th week of taking it) . Only advice I have been given is to stop taking it immediately . Has anyone else experienced severe side effects , and if so how long did it take to feel better ?
Hello Tickeltoes, I’m sorry to hear you’re having to deal with breast cancer and treatment. I don’t have experience with taking Letrozole unfortunately. Have you been able to get any advice from your breast care nurse? Maybe in the meantime someone with more specific advice will post.
I wish you the best with your surgery in October. Hugs
Thank you Nature lover for your kind words and advice My BCN is on holiday this week, the only advise I was given from another nurse was just to stop taking it immediately , but I could have done with some advice as to how I should deal with the terrible side effects I was having. That wasn’t forthcoming . Big hugs x
I took it for 3 mths, my knee became very painful and I was struggling to walk upstairs at times. I have osteoporisis which the oncologist ignored. I switched to Tamoxifen which has worked better for me. X
I was diagnosed in august had my surgery 3 weeks later ,High risk grade 3 DCIS . I’ve just started on letrozole the list of side effects are scary will start radiotherapy for 5 days in a few weeks ..then something for my bones though the cancer hadn’t spread elsewhere .. but being high risk it can come back .. still coming to terms with it all apparently the side should go away but it doesn’t say how long sadly I’m praying I don’t get any of them though doc says they can treat most of the side effects when I queried it .. hope you get better soon big hugs xx
