Hi everyone
I got a letter today after my first manogram it's weird really cause when I got my letter to go for one I thought I would get a recall am really scared my appt is the 20th September .anybody gave any advice it gives me a number I can call to speak to a nurse will she be able to tell me anything .
Many thanks a very nervous person
Hi Scouse4
I've been recalled twice from mammograms and both times I had a leaflet with the letter which explained what a recall was for and what would happen on the day. It's very disappointing to see that your hospital has not done that.
When you attend your appointment a nurse will explain why you've been recalled and explain what will happen. Both times I've had a second mammogram and then, depending on what they've seen, you may then have a physical examination by one of the nurses or consultants, an ultrasound and maybe even a biopsy. At each stage they'll tell you what they've seen and what needs to happen next, if anything.
I'll keep everything crossed for you
Thank you just so nervous and not for me for my family x
Do come back and let me know how you get on.
Hi and welcome to the forum. As latchbrook said, The nurse will explain why you have been recalled. Then go from there as regards to an extra mammogram, ultrasound or biopsy. The waiting is the worse part in all this. Try and keep yourself busy and look after yourself. The time will go and you will feel better once you know what it is all about. I have had four recalls out of six in the past few years. Up until this time, everything was ok at the recalls, just ultrasounds and mammograms done again. So I wish you all the best for yours and hope it is all ok. Take care x
Hi I went today I have calcifications in my right breast I had an ultra sound scan she couldn't decide if cancer so had a 3d mammogram and core bisiopys the first couple they took she said they were near tge surface and was sure nothing yo worry about but she had to go deeper near the nipple abd said she couldn't say over them so waiting now fir results the staff was amazing.
That's good to hear you've had your biopsies Scouse4 and that the staff were amazing. When I had my most recent recall and had to have scans and biopsies I couldn't fault how caring and empathetic the nurses and doctors were.
I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that the biopsies will show nothing to be worried about. Did they give you an idea when you'd get your results?
They said two weeks but don't worry if I get a call before ,am still prepared for the worst jyst reading up on what it means I never asked how big the cluster was but am still positive I can beat this thank you for answering me how r u keeping xx
