Hello I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.  I am due for a mastectomy and reconstruction.  Starting to struggle slightly now.

  • Hi. What you are feeling is completely natural and happens to us all at the beginning. You have made a very positive move by joining here. The waiting to get started on fighting the cancer is the worst time. If you want to talk to someone don't forget the Macmillan phone line. And dont be afraid to ask any questions on here. Chances are there will be someone who has been through similar and can offer support or ideas on what steps to take.

Don't be a stranger to us - only Dr google who can be a frightening place

  • Hi   it's a tough time between diagnosis and treatment starting, at least it was for me as it felt like I was in a bit of a waiting space and very frustrating that nothing was happening. Do you have any specific questions or concerns that this group can help with?  As Petrolhead says, having a chat with the lovely folks at Macmillan is a good idea, you can call them on 0800 800 0000, or just ask away on here as there's a huge amount of experience and support. Best wishes

  • Hi OnlineSally. Sorry to hear your diagnosis, there are times when it becomes all consuming.  The periods of waiting (waiting for results, waiting for scans, waiting for surgery) are some of the hardest.  I thought i had been coping really well but as my surgery date got closer I got more anxious.

I had lumpectomy with reconstruction on 2nd and am recovering well, I'm waiting for results of Lymph node Biopsy.

Reading others stories on here really helps me.
