Not quite sure what to say here but I'm not coping well. Im 34, 4 kids, lpts of pets, amazing partner (only been together 18 months so we should still be all happy and in the honeymoon period) but instead we're dealing with this.
After lots of waiting and the original doctor not referring me to the breast clinic when they should have (I was told to wait until I'd had my next period and then go back if lump was still there), I got diagnosed with breast cancer on Monday. But still more waiting because they are unsure the exact type. I was shocked and upset and struggled to take everythin in but it was somethin like they're waitin to see if it's the usual type of breast cancer that people get or a rare type which will mean getting referred to a different department and specialist team.
I'm so scared. I can't function. I feel like bursting out cryin every time I look at one of my kids. I don't wanna speak to people. I've fell behind on all my rent and bills. I'm just a mess. I don't want to die I just want to get better. I'm terrified.
Hi
Welcome to the group no one wants to be in but everyone here is so supportive and we all help each other
I’m sorry you’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer , the waiting is the worst part , you’ll find lots on here say this , once you know what you’re dealing with you can get on with your treatment plan
Treatments have come on so much , they’ll tailor your plan exactly for you so you might find your plan is different from someone else who has a similar diagnosis
I’ve had hormone positive cancer so after my main treatment I’m now on a hormone blocker and targeted treatment found forward to hopefully stop the cancer growing / coming back
Sending you a massive hug , you must be in such shock and it takes a while for it to sink in , the C word is scary I know
We are all here if you have any questions or just want to chat
Xx

Hi Wilbur88
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer. What you are feeling is perfectly natural. It's a huge shock when you receive a cancer diagnosis. The waiting for tests and results is the worst part about having cancer but once you know what's what you should start to feel better.
Breast cancer is very treatable these days and your medical team will do everything they can to make sure that you come out the other side of this. As Dollydimple said treatments have come on so much over the last number of years and they keep improving all the time. Even in the nearly three years since I was diagnosed thing have come on a lot treatment wise.
I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer nearly three years ago and after chemo, surgery and radiotherapy I made a full recovery.
Be kind to yourself and treat yourself to something nice.
If you need extra support there is plenty of support from Macmillan. Here's a link to the supports you can get from Macmillan: Emotional, financial and physical help for people with cancer | Macmillan Cancer Support.
Wishing you the best of luck with whatever treatment your medical team put you on.
Best wishes
