Hi I’m new here & have just discovered this forum. I e just finished my chemotherapy & im awaiting to see the surgeons for having a mastectomy… feeling quite nervous about having my breast removed. I’ve had EC and dolcetaxel lost all my hair after the first treatment & was devastated sometimes I can’t even sit in my own house in front of parents without covering my head. Wondered if anyone could advise me on what to expect after having a mastectomy?
I had a therapeutic mammoplasty rather than a full mastectomy, which has left me with one very small and one very generously sized breast. I bought half a dozen pretty scarfs to cover up outside of the house.
I’ve also found a charity called knitted knockers, https://www.knittedknockersuk.com/ and can’t speak too highly of their help in getting me the right size softie to help balance things out. I’d recommend checking them out.
it’s also worth checking what support your hospital has, mine has a wonderful cancer well-being centre with lots of support available.
Good luck and hugs.
