Hello to everyone.  I joined the page several months ago but haven't felt ready to post but now I do so here goes.

Following a routine mammogram I was diagnosed with Grade 2 invasive ductal carcinoma on both sides. I had lumpectomy and lymph node removal, it had moved on one side into the first 2 lymph nodes but not on the other side. I had radiotherapy treatment but no chemo.

I have been taking Letrozole and calcium tablets for 9 months and am starting to struggle with side effects.

  • Hi I had grade 2 in breast and lymph nodes removed 6 months ago. Also had radiotherapy on letrozole and took calcium tablets for a month. I am also fed up with all the pains, numb fingers, hot flushes and tiredness. All I can say is every day is a struggle but keep strong I know it's hard. I have been to a few aqua exercise classes it helps. Also listen to relaxing healing music. Sending you a big hug xx

  • Hi there really sorry to hear you struggling with side effects from letrozole I too had awful side effects my oncologist changed me to exmestane wow what a difference I'm also allowed to take black cohosh at night I also take starflower fish oil vit d3 and tumeric  aswell but I feel soo much better hardly any flushes I got the ok with all the tablets above but the exmestane made a huge difference hope this helps and good luck with the rest of your treatment xx

  • Sorry to hear about your experience and thank you for the reply and hug x

I am self-employed and work with my hands so it's the joint pain and finger locking that are the main problems. It feels wrong to moan about it when friends are in much worse situations than me but it's been building up over the months. Another friend has refused the hormone treatment because of the side effects but as I had it in both breasts that feels like playing Russian roulette x 2.

  • Thank you for the reply and sharing your experience of letrozole. I will ask about the exmestane. My oncologist did say that if I had problems with my hands and letrozole to let them know. I hope you're doing okay and thanks again x
