I started chemo yesterday, and I take herbal sleeping tablets now and then . Can I still take them during chemo? Waste of time trying my gp as will take a month to get an appointment, and would rather not have " proper" ones. Any advice very welcome..big hugs xx
Morning Musicmunma,
I would suggest emailing your designated nurse or your oncology team for advice on any medication including herbal during chemo, everyone of us has a different treatment plan, drugs, health and diagnosis so what might be appropriate for one person may not be for you.
Have you tried any relaxation techniques for sleeping, I attend an online session run by our local Maggies centre and it’s really helped me to nod off.
I hope you find a solution and get some sleep as there is nothing worse when you’re exhausted and are unable to sleep.
Take care big hugs
V x
Hi sorry to hear you can't sleep it's the same here I have hot flushes etc but you should ask your oncologist or Macmillan nurses just in case they affect your treatment. Keep trying GP ask for a telephone appointment instead, hope you can try other ways mediation music, healing music, perhaps a body massage to help dettox wishing you the best x
Hi V Thankyou for the reply...I think I was over tired as I was at hospital for 6 hours, the hospital transport never turned up til 7.50 I finished session at 6.15..I was tired and hungry just wanted to get home xxxx
Thankyou Shamybaby.. I know things will get worse before they get better, so I'm expecting whatever I get. I also think my hay fever has started which isn't helping. Only 15 more to get through! A break of 6 weeks, then radiotherapy...oh the joy, thank God I've already had my mastectomy, think that was the easy part! ️
I hope you sleep better tonight.
Also sorry I spelt your username wrong in my previous reply
Take care of yourself and good luck with the rest of your treatment x
Hi just read about the hospital transport! Do you have any friends or family who could drop and pick up? Have you contacted Macmillan for help with finance for taxis? I'm sure you can get help. Please don't go alone in your hospital is there a Macmillan office?what hospital are you at?
Sending you love and hugs and yes surgery was the easy part xx
I Do have a friend, that has been taking me, but she is going on holiday which is why I've organised transport. Maybe when she is back I will tell them I don't need it,it's just if she can manage everyappointment. The hospital is just over 22 miles from where I live so not local as such unfortunately, neither myself or my husband drive

Hi that's so far away, but please ask Macmillan for financial assistance with taxi fares while she is away, after treatment all you want is to lay down and a cup of tea. You are very brave and strong I wish I could help you, but I'm here sending you my love and big hugs ️
