Newbie starting Chemo May 2023

Good morning BecA , welcome to the community and sorry to hear your breast cancer diagnosis.

I was diagnosed in January and I am also starting chemotherapy in May, on the 9th. 

I agree it all is an emotional rollercoaster and waiting is the worst part, I also feel calmer once I have a plan in place. 

Hopefully a May chemotherapy thread will start, there are a few of us who have recently joined that will be going through chemotherapy starting in May. 
I’m not sure if we start that group or someone in Admin, hopefully someone in a previous month will advise.

Hi BecA, sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I am ahead of you and PDarlo and am I the January chemo thread. As you both are starting in May rather than waiting go for it and set up a May starting chemo thread. There will be others on here but maybe are waiting too for someone to set one up.

Hi I also start chemo I’m May, in fact it’s this Wednesday the 3rd. I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in February. I had two lumps and decided the best thing for me was to have a mastectomy without reconstructive surgery for now. 
It would be great to set up a thread if there are a few of us starting together. It really hit home last week when I visited the chemo unit and had my picc line put in. I’m trying to be positive, I’m lucky to have lots of support and it’s my kids that keep me going. 
Im sorry that you have found yourself in this group, you will definitely find the support and answers that you need.

Hi Cazza, Good to hear you are trying to be positive I am too, kids and husband are coming to terms with it now and we are trying to being upbeat, I just want to get it underway.

When we went for the meeting with the oncologist last week, I sort of stepped outside myself for a moment and saw myself in the cancer unit, it felt surreal.

I’m ahead bid you all as I was in the January chemo group (although I started my chemo on Dec 2022.

Hi Cuffcake thank you for setting up a new chemo group, it will be great to share our stories, keep each other positive and hear your experiences. I hope you’re ok and dealing as well as you can with the treatment.
