had the same problem at James Cook hospital in Middlesbrough

They do fittings in a store cupboard full of junk. In the dark with no chair

The outcome is a thing so heavy you would get a bad back.

It's horrendous it took seven minutes to throw at me this piece of garbage really

I could use it as a door stop. Due to weight if I left it in its carrying case.

It's disgusting and disappointment after the garbage and build up from a nurse.

Perhaps they should visit the darkened cupboard and try wearing one for a few hours too.

  • This is worrying seeing this this morning, I have my appointment today at Canterbury hospital to collect mine. I shall let you know if things are different there. Sorry you had a horrible experiencePensive. I couldn't see previous messages from others just this one. Fingers crossed for me, but not going with much faith now xx

  • I had my treatment at North Tees hospital   in 2019 and had replacement prosethis in 2021.
I am sorry you had bad experience at JC I hope you take time to complain to pals . In NT it was handled very well I met the Boob lady prior to my MX and was given a softie and a bag for drain plus heart cushion .
My appointment was in Her Office which was a bit like a shoe shop except boxes had prothesis in . It was informative about weight etc also advised not to look in mirror until prothesis fitted in bra. I was also advised to wear a light weight shirt white if poss so I could see shape .
perhaps you could ask if you can cross over to NT for fitting . After three year I started to buy my usual bra and stitch in a pocket to take prosethic and am happy with shape .

I hope you have a better experience

  • There are lighter weight ones which you could ask for. Especially if you need a larger prosthesis, they can be weighty and the lighter one can help. I’d call your BCN to enquire. I can understand your frustration after all the build up to this.

  • Yes I have a card from a Pam coulson,

So will give them the 34 DD thing she gave me a card to ring up for a bra.

I didn't bother as I'm only size 08 clothes 32 c/d chest so none of it is any good.

The bra had thick safety harness

    Straps size 7 boob.

    It's still in the box

Tomorrow I'm off to Newcastle upon Tyne M&S

As you know no M&S Mbro town centre

No clothes M&S Hpool or Stockton

So off there to try on

    BREAST CARE NOW bras

So here's hoping it don't weigh a ton

But at least it's with a qualified woman in a well lit changing room

  • You do know you can get a new free

One on NHS after so many years.

I swam everyday at leisure pool prior to cancer.

That heavy one I would of been swimming round in circles & I need to get fighting fit again.

I went to North tees when I got an infection they were super nice to me did an ultra sound and mrs Lim told me the truth.

    Haemotoma under arm

Arm kaput all could take a year to heal.

I was able to make plans and inform people.

    At Mr toes clinic.

Here's hoping m&s can assist me tomorrow

  • I’m a large cup 40G must admit thought this is heavy but once in bra and worn all day realised my boobs felt equal weight maybe just lucky .

yes I got free replacement after two year just rang NT and they ordered no problem even though Pam Was on holiday .

M&S no good for us big girls Joy prior to covid only did one post surgery bra in my size since then they no longer do one . So I go to M&S outlet and buy my normal then sew in pocket .

Off to see Mr Toe on Wed for signing off As  Oncology signed me off last week after nearly 4yr of treatment haven’t seen him since morning of my op in 2019

  • Thought I would let you know, kind of feel guilty though too, my experience was great collecting my prosthesis. In was in an office like room, windows, so well lit, with a mirror on the wall and the lady was lovely.  When I told her of the bad experiences some had had, she said she could relate ss she travels to all different areas for ladies and she has to use wherever they have space. X

  • I will see what M&S have tomorrow

But I have complained to several MPs one Grahame Morris MP from Easington said he would take it up as he's on a special Cancer task force/ committee in Parliament.

I will let you know what they have in store at fitting.

They have a massive Holistic Centre don't know why it isn't in that part

    At JC Middlesbrough.

Glad yours was a good experience

  • I went to m&s in Newcastle upon Tyne,  they have actual stock. Yes you can try on with dignity and respect.

They even have a vest with cups in no use for me at the momen as my right arm can't pull it on.

More news they ordered a bright pink one for me to go to my own m&s which only does food.

Plus there's more, my ribs are now flared out due to the masectomy so my size has changed from 32D to

    34B.

    So I'm sorted properly.

I have continued to complain about

    The cupboard at JC.

I can't wear one of those, heavy prosthesis from NHS as I've had pneumonia got fluid round the back

Lymphedema and so can't have more issues round the back area.

OH PRICE ONLY £16.66p with the discount off a twenty quid bra.
