Hi have had lumpectomy and sentinel biopsy, what chemotherapy should I expect and how many, is radiotherapy expected too?
Hi Millsey
I was diagnosed with TNBC this time last year. After a lumpectomy I then had 3 cycles of EC followed by 12 cycles of paclitaxel. My treatment finished with 10 sessions of radiotherapy.
However, everyone has an individual treatment plan so you might not have the same treatment as mine. When you go for the results of your lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy your surgeon should tell you what will happen next treatment wise.

Thank you latchbrook, that’s helpful how many weeks/ months did chemo take approximately? Did you have a long wait for chemotherapy? I have been worrying about TNC as it seems difficult to treat, then my doctor wrote on notes it’s was invasive lobular as well, which prompted my question x
I started chemo 9 weeks after I'd had my lumpectomy. It would have been 8 weeks after except my bloods weren't right for the first chemo so that delayed it a week.
The EC was every three weeks and the paclitaxel once a week for 12 weeks. So the two in total took 22 weeks.
You can see my complete timeline by looking at my profile if you want to.

Thanks latchbrook appreciate your information it helps looking ahead at the summer, I’m 4 weeks post lumpectomy, results delayed due to Easter, did you get offered Bac gene test, unfortunately my daughter diagnosed with hormone positive ductal bc, she is probably going to have tamoxifen x
It was 3 weeks before I saw the surgeon for my results so I don't think yours have been unduly delayed.
Actually I must chase up to see what's happened about the gene test. I did mention it to my surgeon and she said she'd refer to the team that deal with it and they'd contact me if necessary. However, as I haven't head anything I must check if that's because they don't need to see me or because she's forgotten to refer me.
