Hello, I am almost 2 weeks post op after a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy. I am currently off work as is my husband, to look after the children and house.  I have 3 boys and they are all very loud and it is very draining to be completely honest.

Does anyone have any advice for keeping my stress down as I wait for my appointment with my results and treatment plan.

Thanks

  • Hi Lainia

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer.  If you feel up to it why not have a chat or ask your husband to have a chat with the boys and ask them to keep the noise down as you need some peace and quite to recover after your operation.

Wishing you the best of luck with whatever come next for you.

    Best wishes

  • Hello Lainia,

I feel for you. It has been said that 'hell is other people', and I find it to be true sometimes.

I also find to be true that being all alone all the time is bad, too.

Similar advice as Daisy, I encourage you to ask your husband to have a talk with the boys. May I ask how old are the boys? Can you reason with them at all? "Mummy had an operation and needs to rest.'

I am now 3 weeks post op after the exact same surgery. I do encourage you to get outside, do some shopping, go to the cinema, take yourself out to lunch, things like that which bring you joy and pleasant distraction.

Another idea is to do some very light deep breathing of fresh air. Sit in the sun (hope you have some), drink your coffee or tea, and just breathe in nature.

I wish you peace, calm, and healing.
