Hi all.

  1. I'm 44 and have had operation on left breast to remove cancer. Had chemotherapy and radiotherapy and now on 3 montly injections of prostat. I'm struggling with aching joints which keep me awake at night. Especially sore shoulders. Any advice on what I can do to relieve this?

  • Hi, sorry to hear you're struggling with side effects.  My oncologist advised me to ensure I did a lot of walking and I must admit, if I don't manage c10,000 steps for a few days in a row, my joints feel it.

You might also think about having a chat with the lovely team at Macmillan, you can call them on 0808 808 0000. They have a lot of specialist advice to offer.   Best wishes

  • Wow that's amazing. That's some determination, I do about 4,000 on a walk. Don't count the rest of it though. It's just an app in the phone.

  • Hi,

I also have struggled with aching joints. I walk daily as Irishgirl 16 says, as much as I can.

But then I saw Liz O'Riordan recommended in a post on here. She was a breast cancer surgeon until she developed breast cancer herself. She has a good understanding of hormone therapy and its side effects. She has several Q&A sessions on Facebook and Instagram  Really helpful. She recommends some resistance work too.

I've just bought some resistance bands and have been working on strengthening joints; just 10 minutes while I'm watching TV. What a difference! I feel so much better. I feel like my old self again. Grinning Might be of some use?
