I don’t even really know what to say, just trying to figure out how to deal with today. My mum, my absolute world was diagnosed with breast cancer today. I’ve been with her today and know I need to be strong for her. She has to be okay
Hi Rina she will be with you supporting her. Help out in the home it's the daily chores that stress us. Give her space as well, relaxing music light meals. Mum will feel tired make the lounge nice and comfy, candles, blankets so she can relax knowing her best daughter is there. Take care x
Thank you so much for replying, hope you’re okay whatever it is you’re going through xx
Hi Rina I had surgery October lump removed and lymph nodes, radiotherapy now just mending. I'm on tablets for 5 years and infusion every 6months.
I'm still tired after walking our greyhounds!! But trying to get my strength back, I listen to healing music on Spotify, rest when I can't do much. Tell family you will be in touch because I know how your mum feels when phone goes, or text messages. And you take time out to process all this, a walk, swim reading even binge on Netflix.
Sending you my love xx
so sorry to hear but so glad you’re making progress, wishing you all the best with it and you feel much better/stronger soon.
thanks for the advice, definitely time is what’s needed, today has already been slightly better than yesterday but expect it to be a rollercoaster.
Sending love to you too x
Hi Rina have you contacted Macmillan for support even financial advice and help if you need it. Also see if mum is entitled to pip.
There may be support groups in your area you can attend. The hospital may have a Macmillan walk in centre.
Remember you need support advice so you can help mum , keep strong and positive. When is her operation? Things will move fast now, with different appointments so have all her letters etc in a folder, put the appt dates on calendar and your phone.
If you drive great, if not see if you can get help with taxi fares speak to Macmillan.
We are all here for you both big hugs x
I did call them yesterday, was really helpful. So nice to know there’s someone there to listen when you need it I’ve also contacted a local support group as well and counsellor is due to call me, sorted all that asap as, as you say, I need to be able to support her as best I can and look after myself too to be able to do that :)
No date yet. Just doing all the tests/scans for them to decide on exactly the best course of action, should know by on a week or two.
Thanks for all your advice, really appreciate it.
big hug back to you xx
